Waking up very early this morning, slightly feverish (I seem to have some seasonal cold), I decided to start organizing my computer, putting finished projects in their proper place, and so on. I found an old sound piece I made, Fractured Conversation, in 2007, a soundtrack for a gallery show. It was meant as a kind of interstitial “sound furniture” to provide a sonic backdrop to the show itself. I made it for Blackbird Gallery in San Francisco and the show travelled on to Miami for Art Basel later in the year.
Anyhow, listening to it this morning, a bit spaced out from my cold, at 7 AM, it fits well, though I hear about 3 million things I would change now. It’s still a bit creepy, mostly quiet, odd, and very spare. Best if sampled as the sun comes up, and even better if slightly feverish. Here’s the first 26 minutes (from 2 hours of material).
